UPVC Soffit and Fascia Replacement in Cardiff

We fit UPVC fascias, soffits and bargeboards on Cardiff terraces, villas and semis, replacing rotten timber boards and the gutters that hang from them in a single tidy job.

UPVC Soffit and Fascia › Cardiff

Cardiff is a city of long Victorian and Edwardian terraces, with villas and 1930s semis filling the suburbs between. The roofline on all of them tells the same story: timber boards painted again and again, gutters leaking onto the fascia, and soffits that have gone soft above the front door.

T & T Roofing South Wales works in Cardiff from our base in Port Talbot. We replace old boards with UPVC fascias, soffits and bargeboards, add ventilation to the soffits where it is missing, and fit new gutters at the same time so you are not paying for scaffold twice.

Rooflines on Cardiff terraces, villas and semis

A Victorian or Edwardian terrace in Roath, Cathays or Canton often has a long, unbroken eaves run across several houses. When one length of fascia rots, the neighbouring boards are usually close behind, so we look along the whole run and agree what is worth replacing now. That saves repeat visits and keeps the finished roofline looking even.

Villas in Llandaff, Pontcanna and Whitchurch tend to have deeper eaves, decorative bargeboards and more complicated corners. We match the profile where we can and explain where a plain UPVC board will look different, so there are no surprises once the scaffold comes down. Corners and returns are where these houses usually need the most care.

The 1930s semis around Heath, Cyncoed, Rhiwbina and Llanishen usually have shallow eaves with solid soffits and gutters that have been patched. New vented soffits let the loft breathe, and the roofline ends up looking cleaner from the road without any repainting. It also gives the gutters a firm, level board to sit on.

UPVC roofline work we do across Cardiff

  • Full fascia and soffit replacement — The old boards come off along the whole run, rafter ends are checked, and new UPVC fascias and soffits are fitted to the house.
  • Bargeboards on gable ends — Many Cardiff villas and semis have gable ends, and we replace weathered bargeboards with UPVC boards fixed firmly along the roof edge.
  • Vented soffits for older lofts — Older houses often have solid soffits, so we fit vented boards or vent strips to let the roof space breathe and the timbers dry.
  • Gutter replacement alongside — Because gutters hang from the fascia, we replace or refit them as part of the same visit, including downpipes where needed.
  • Capping over or replacing — If the existing boards are sound, capping over in UPVC is an option, but we replace rotten timber instead of covering it.
  • Repairs and partial replacement — A split board above a bay or a rotten corner can be replaced on its own where the surrounding roofline is still in good order.

How we work on a Cardiff roofline

Cardiff streets are tight, with parked cars and narrow pavements, so we plan the scaffold and delivery of boards before we arrive. We look at the roofline from the ground and the loft, then confirm whether you need a full replacement, a partial one or a cap-over. We explain the plan before the scaffold goes up.

On older Cardiff homes we check what existing soffit boards are made of before they are disturbed, then take the boards and gutters off and look at the rafter ends. New UPVC goes on with ventilation built in, and the gutters go back. Some work may need planning or Building Regulations checks — we advise before work starts.

UPVC Soffit and Fascia Guides for Cardiff

UPVC Soffit and Fascia in Cardiff — Common Questions

Can you do a whole Cardiff terrace roofline in one go?

We can work along a run of houses where each owner agrees to the work on their own property. We price each house separately, and doing neighbouring houses together can make scaffold access simpler. Talk to your neighbours first, then get in touch.

Will UPVC look right on a Victorian house?

Plain UPVC boards are simpler than old moulded timber, but a well-fitted white or darker finish looks neat and sits well on most terraces. If you have decorative bargeboards, we talk through what can be matched and what cannot before starting.

Do I need to repaint UPVC fascias?

No. UPVC is cleaned rather than painted, usually with warm soapy water and a soft brush from the ground. It is very low maintenance, though gutters still need clearing, especially if you live near trees in Roath or Llandaff.

Can you replace just the gutters on my Cardiff house?

Yes, if the fascia behind them is sound. If the board is soft or rotten, we would recommend replacing it at the same time, since the gutters have to come off anyway and the new ones need something solid to fix to.

Which parts of Cardiff do you cover?

We cover the whole city, including Splott, Grangetown, Ely, Radyr, Canton and Whitchurch, and nearby places such as Penarth, Barry and St Mellons. Send us your address and we will arrange a look at the roofline.
